چکیده

Modeling of the mobile radio channel is considered. Starting from a physical model, a frequency domain description of the channel is obtained. It is then shown that the effect of fading and dispersion can be entirely modeled using frequency transform techniques. Due to the bandlimitation of the simulated stochastic processes, the channel impulse response (CIR) model works on discrete time samples in both time and delay direction. Besides its computational efficiency an advantage of the technique is that the channel center frequency and the normalization unit (ie. the sample duration Ts) for the physical delay spread remain as generic parameters. The generic property of the model is its major advantage especially in the evaluation of new, unspecified scenarios. Due to the block–oriented processing, the fading-bandwidth–delayspread product is limited for this modeling technique. Applications to typical mobile radio data transmission scenarios conclude the paper. Keywords—Fading Channels, Simulation, Radio Communication

Frequency-hopping Trellis-coded 8-dpsk for Indoor Communications

In this paper we propose a TDMA Slow Frequency Hopping-Trellis Coded 8DPSK scheme for indoor mobile radio communications. In order to assess the performance of this scheme a GWSSUS (Gaussian Wide Sense Stationary Uncorrelated Scattering) continuous channel model with an exponentiol Power Delay Profire has been adopted. This channel model allows us to analize transmission rates much lower than t...

A Frequency Hopping Rayleigh Fading Channel Simulator with given Correlation Properties

A Rayleigh fading channel simulator with excellent frequency hopping capabilities is described. The proposed channel simulator can easily be designed, and its statistical properties are in good conformity with the underlying physical (mathematical) radio channel model. Our simulator is based on a finite sum of weighted harmonic functions with determined frequencies and phases (Rice’s sum of sin...

Future Broadband Packet Radio Access and Its Field Experiments

This paper presents a broadband packet radio access scheme based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based access in the downlink and single-carrier based access with spreading including low-rate channel coding in the uplink for the systems beyond IMT-2000. In our design concept for radio access in both links, the spreading factor including the channel coding rate is optimally ...

Feasibility of Adaptive Transmission for Multicarrier and Frequency Hopping Mobile Radio Systems

We address feasibility of adaptive transmission for rapidly varying fading channels encountered in mobile communication systems. Due to rapid channel variations and the feedback delay, implementation of adaptive transmission in these channels requires accurate prediction of future channel conditions. We describe the design and performance of adaptive transmission methods enabled by the Long Ran...

Frequency-Domain Pre-Rake Transmission for DSSS/TDD Mobile Communications Systems

In this Letter, a frequency-domain pre-rake transmission is presented for a direct sequence spread spectrum with time division duplex (DSSS/TDD) system under a frequency-selective fading channel. The mathematical relationship between frequency-domain and time-domain pre-rake transmissions is discussed. It is confirmed by the computer simulation that, similar to the time-domain pre-rake transmis...
